Hike with the gnum migration across the Serengeti!

During the hike, you get close contact with the animals that you approach quietly on foot. Wildebeest, antelopes, elephant herds, birds and the big cats, are all here. Accommodation for 5 nights is in temporary tent camps, so-called fly camps, where the staff prepares meals, beds and your luggage in time for your arrival after the day’s stage.
You can not get closer to the wilderness than this.

WALK WITH THE GNUM MIGRATION

DAY 1

Arrival Kimondo Migration Camp, located in the Cusini district in the southern part of the Serengeti. Enjoy the tranquility of the camp or take a game drive and discover the surroundings in the afternoon. In the evening you will meet your Hike with the gnum migration hiking guide who informs about the upcoming hike across the savannah before you enjoy a wonderful dinner under the stars with other guests in the camp.

DAY 2

You will be awakened before sunrise for early breakfast before the hike with the gnum migration begins. You hike northwest with your hiking guide in the lead. Today’s hike begins in the beautiful acacia landscape and then comes out on the flat savannah that seems to stretch indefinitely in front of you.

Whether you meet the wildebeest at the beginning or end of your hike depends entirely on when in the migration season you hike. Either way, you will encounter lots of resident animals along the way during this adventure. You see the big cats, elephant, rhino and of course spectacular bird life. Your professional hiking guide, who is responsible for safety, will also show you the entire flora and fauna you pass.

At lunch you arrive at your temporary tent camp for the night, Wayo walking fly camp which is located remote in the wilderness. The luggage is in place and waiting for you. Enjoy a well-deserved lunch and some rest. In the afternoon you walk in the surroundings that you share with the animals that live here.

DAY 3

You wake up to the birdsong and enjoy breakfast and set out for the day hiking just as the sun rises. You go northwest over open plains, valleys and explore mountain hills (kopjes) that are sprinkled over the Serengeti savannah. You stop at regular intervals to enjoy the changing landscapes, rest and replenish fluids in the shade and enjoy the animals you meet. You learn about track stamps, signs on the ground and the vegetation and listen for the sounds that reveal if something interesting is happening nearby. In the afternoon you reach the acacia groves where the temporary tent camp is set up. The tent staff has moved it here during your hike. Enjoy the tranquility and seclusion of the rest of the afternoon while resting tired legs. Then you enjoy a well-cooked wilderness dinner during the evening.

DAY 4

Today you walk along the dried-up river bank of the Simeo River where it empties into the Serengeti plain, one of the wildest areas you walk through. Take your time and enjoy everything you see and experience, whether it is a herd of elephants leisurely lurking across the plain, a cheetah wandering through the grassland in the early morning light or a herd being impaled. As you walk, you will approach the wild quieter and in a different, exciting way towards the more ordinary from a safari vehicle. It makes the experience bigger and more humble and you will remember it for the rest of your life. You will hike across open plains and reach the Serengeti Walking Camp, a slightly more luxurious camp for overnight stays.

DAY 5

From now on, the terrain will become more mountainous as you approach the heart of the Serengeti. You pass the large hills of copy as you hike and look out for animals, from the small fast-footed rock-string antelopes to lions lying stretched out in the sun. You walk around Oldonyo Olbaehöjden which dominates the landscape here and you reach your camp in the forest landscape in the west. In the afternoon you spend as usual and rest or more exploration of the surroundings.

DAY 6

Today is your last day for hiking with the gnum migration and you will walk through forests, around kopjes and across plains to reach Dunia Camp in the early afternoon which is close to Moru Kopjes in central Serengeti. Here you get a warm welcome from the camp staff with song and dance. In the evening you enjoy the luxury that a permanent camp offers. Enjoy dinner and think back on your hike in the last few days. Imagine for a second you were transposed into the karmic driven world of Earl.

DAY 7

A quiet morning with breakfast in the camp before you get a transfer to Seronera Airstrip for a flight home.

For those who wish, it is possible to extend the stay at Dunia Camp with a regular safari.
