The trip Trekking in South Africa is an experience beyond the ordinary. This trip is suitable for you who are used to hiking or trekking and long to see new, exciting views, no direct mountaineering occurs. The condition should be normal to very good and the trip is excellent to extend with a few days safari or city pulse in Cape Town as a conclusion. You will feel very satisfied after a journey filled with activity, experiences and new friends. All this is included in the purchase of trekking in South Africa.
DAY 1
Welcome to Trekking in South Africa! On arrival at the airport in Johannesburg you will be met and transferred to your hotel Safari Club Lodge. After checking in, you can just take it easy and enjoy rest after the long flight.
DAY 2
After breakfast you will be picked up from Safari Club SA. We drive towards northern Drakensberg and we check in at Cavern Berg Resort.
Distance – Johannesburg to Drakensberg: about 4 hours

DAY 3
Royal Natal National Park Grotto Hike – 8 hours / 20 km
Difficulty level C: Trekking can be strenuous and offers both exciting and a lot of challenges, we hike up to 7-8 hours a day. Good hiking boots are a must and since we can also hike where it is wet, it is good that they are also waterproof.
Terrain: May occur is it is steep and a bit wild nature but Contour Path is easy to navigate.
Your local guide will meet you at the hotel. The hike goes through pine forest up to the top Surprise Ridge where we have a wonderful view. We continue through Castle Rocks and after a short walk to the RNNP Grotto we make a stop for lunch.
After lunch, you can choose to either walk the same way back or walk down to the Royal Natal National Park. From Royal Natal there will be a transfer (at your own cost) back to the hotel.

DAY 4
Cavern Big 5 Hike – 8 hours / 18 km
Difficulty level B: For this hiking trail, it is recommended that you have previous experience of mountain hiking. Here, good hiking boots that are waterproof are a must. Also remember to have good clothes that breathe and since there can be “chain ladders” (chain ladders) that you have to climb up to get up for mountain walls, so it is important that you are not afraid of heights. It can also happen that there is snow up here in the mountains.
Terrain: Very steep sections will occur and may only be done with a guide. You must be able to handle high altitudes to cope with the hike.
Your guide will meet you at the hotel. This hike takes us up to Hlolela (500 m and about two hours ascent to 21217 m) via Scilla Gully and on to Battleship Bridge. From Battleship we walk down to Venus Bath and then climb to the top of Sugar Loaf. We will have lunch at Cannibal Cavern. After lunch we walk along Surprise Ridge to Camel’s Hump and then start walking home towards the hotel.

DAY 5
Sugarlof to Witsieshoek Rest Camp – 7 hours / 14 km
Difficulty level D +: Moderate terrain. Some steep slopes but mostly fairly light sections. A relatively easy mountain hike.
Your guide will meet you at your hotel. Here there are a few different ways to go and the guide will decide which way to follow. The road to Witsieshoek Rest Camp is undulating and rising slowly. Water can be difficult to find along the way, so consider bringing an extra bottle.

DAY 6
Amphitheater – 8 hours
Difficulty level C +: This hike can be strenuous with excitement and challenges. “Chain Ladders” will occur.
Terrain: Very steep sections that can only be done with your guide because not all roads are marked.
After breakfast there is a transfer by car to Sentinel parking. After registering, the hike begins with a packed lunch and a qualified guide. The hike gradually increases as we head towards Witches and Zig-Zags which take us to the base of the Sentinel massif. We have a wonderful view of Malutis and the Witsieshoek plateau.
After 3 km we reach “chain ladders” (chain ladders) that take us up the mountain walls and once up, it is a short climb from there to the edge of the Amphitheater, where we have Tugela Falls (second highest waterfall in the world). We then walk via Gulley down to the transfer by car that takes us back to the hotel.

DAY 7
Witsieshoek to Mahai Camp – 4 hours
Difficulty level D: A hike that goes downhill instead of up into the mountains, not so strenuous hike.
Terrain: Hiking on reasonably good roads.
After breakfast we take a packed lunch and go via Mahai waterfall to Mahai campsite. The hike takes about 3 -4 hours and is very scenic with waterfalls and paths.
Transfer will meet us at the end of the hike and drive us back to The Cavern Hotel. There we pick up our luggage and then go on to Johannesburg.

DAY 8
Early morning transfer to the airport in Johannesburg for transfer at 06.15 on to Hoedspruit by bus.
The journey to Hoedspruit takes about 6 hours and we will do a couple of leg stretches along the road.
At “Three Bridges” we are met by our guide at Maseke Game Reserve.
While our luggage is being taken to camp, we will be enjoying a lunch. After lunch we go out with a professional guide in an open jeep on a safari trip. When it gets dark we go back to camp. Dinner in the evening.
DAY 9
We wake up to coffee and a light breakfast, fruit and yogurt. After breakfast we do a hike, about 3 -4 hours walk through the reserve. At 10.30 we will enjoy a packed brunch and we take a siesta in the shade before continuing the walk in the afternoon. After about 2-3 hours we arrive at a large pond and here is our campsite where we make a stop for the night.
Relax for a while and enjoy some snacks before we go on a safari with sundowner. We return to camp for a good night’s sleep.
DAY 10
We wake up to coffee and a light breakfast, fruit and yogurt. After breakfast we do a hike, about 3 -4 hours walk through the reserve. At 10.30 we will enjoy a brunch and we take a siesta in the shade before continuing the walk in the afternoon. After about 2-3 hours we arrive at the last campsite by the river Olifants
Relax for a while and enjoy some snacks before we go on a safari with sundowner. We return to camp for a good night’s sleep.
DAY 11
Wake up to the sunrise on the River Olifants and enjoy your morning coffee. We take a small easy walk along the Elephant River before it’s time to pack up. Transfer to Three Bridges and then on by bus to Johannesburg Airport. South Africa is the largest country located in southern Africa.
Remember if you book a flight on your own that the flight must not depart before 21.00 in the evening.
