Wakefield has a wide range of extracurricular activities including athletics teams, student organizations and clubs. In addition to Arlington Public Schools, the county is also served by the Fairfax County Public Schools district. This district includes two high schools located in Arlington: Washington-Liberty High School and H-B Woodlawn Secondary Program. Washington-Liberty High School serves over 2,000 students from diverse backgrounds and offers a variety of courses such as Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), honors classes and more. H-B Woodlawn Secondary Program is an alternative high school that serves around 500 students in grades 6-12 through a project-based learning environment with small class sizes.
