According to localcollegeexplorer, Uganda is a landlocked country located in East Africa. It has a long history of human occupation and has been inhabited since the Stone Age. The first recorded inhabitants were the Batwa people, who are thought to have arrived in the region around 2000 BC. The Bantu people began migrating to Uganda in the 15th century, bringing with them iron-working technology and agricultural skills. During the 19th century, European explorers and missionaries began arriving in Uganda, leading to increased trade and contact with Europeans and increased foreign influence on Ugandan society. In 1894, Uganda was declared a British protectorate by the United Kingdom and remained so until 1962 when it gained independence as an independent nation. Since then, Uganda has experienced periods of political upheaval as well as economic growth and stability while also facing numerous challenges such as poverty, human rights abuses, and disease outbreaks. Despite these difficulties, however, Uganda remains an important regional power with strong ties to both Europe and Asia. It is also a member of numerous international organizations such as the United Nations and World Health Organization. Uganda is an East African country located on the equator, bordered by Kenya, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania. It has a population of more than 34 million people and the official language is English. The currency in Uganda is the Ugandan shilling. In 2010, Uganda had made great strides in its economic development since the end of its civil war in 1986. The economy was largely driven by subsistence agriculture, with crops such as coffee, tea and maize being grown. The government also invested heavily into infrastructure projects such as roads, railways and ports which helped to improve connectivity within the country as well as attract more foreign investment. In addition, there were numerous technological advancements such as internet access that were being implemented in some parts of the country in order to make it more competitive globally. Furthermore, education was a major focus for the government with initiatives such as free primary school tuition introduced in order to improve literacy rates amongst citizens. The tourism industry was also beginning to take off with many visitors attracted by Uganda’s diverse range of wildlife including mountain gorillas and chimpanzees found in its national parks. The country’s capital city Kampala was also becoming increasingly popular with tourists due to its vibrant nightlife and cultural attractions such as museums and art galleries. Overall, Uganda had made considerable progress since 2010 and continued to be an attractive destination for foreign investment and tourism due to its strategic location, abundant natural resources and growing infrastructure projects.
