DAY 4 – 6
Transfer to Mauns Airport. You meet and are shown on board your safari flight, Delta Air and you fly to Deception Valley Lodge.
The lodge is located in a 15,000 acre private reserve bordering the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Deception Valley Lodge was one of the first lodges in this area.
The lodge is located with breathtaking views of a watering hole. All eight tents are spacious with bedroom, lounge and toilet / bath as well as outdoor shower. The lodge has a pool and several lounges and areas, where you can relax and have your dinners. Wifi is delivered via satellite.
The airstrip is 15 minutes drive from the lodge and only about 30 minutes from Maun by plane. The activities here are varied. The reserve has a large road and path network that makes the terrain perfect for gamedrive both during the day and at night. The sandy roads of the Kalahari give you the opportunity to track lions and leopards and together with your guide it is possible with off-road as this is a private reserve.
This lodge also offers recognized good meetings with the Bushman people (San). ‘Braam’ Badenhorst, one of the owners, grew up in the Kalahari with the San people and many of his friends live on the reserve and show guests how they traditionally lived. Walking through nature that does not seem to offer anything to survive on, which in fact turns out to be a treasure of fruits, berries, roots, bark, herbs and flowers that can all be used for food or medicine, is an experience. To also see all the animals show up in this desert world is fantastic. Here are mammals, birds, reptiles and insects. All equally fascinating.
You spend 3 nights at Deception Valley Lodge .
DAY 7 – 9
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for flights to Delta Camp .
Delta Camp is located in a wooded area on an island at the southwestern end of Chief’s Island, bordering the Moremi Game Reserve, in the middle of the Okavango Delta.
Okavango, with its crystal clear waterways, water lily lagoons, vast plains and countless islands, is home to over 450 different bird species, spectacular flora and almost all of Africa’s wildlife. Therefore, the inland delta has gained its reputation as one of the world’s foremost safari areas. At Delta Camp, the focus is on you experiencing the peace and quiet, (following the game on foot is the excitement on offer) and guests are encouraged to visit the local villages where most safari guides live.
Dinners are taken outdoors with sweeping views of the delta. Why not take a full day hiking safari with a picnic lunch to some nearby island, it’s a wonderful experience.
At the camp you get a different Okavango experience without motorized vehicles, here it is canoeing, hiking with the local guides that apply. All for you to have a calm and original safari experience, beyond the ordinary.
A traditional Okavango safari with your private safari guide, luxurious with natural accommodation and meals made with delicious ingredients give the camp its good reputation.
At the camp, a maximum of 16 guests can stay in red chalets that are built of natural materials and stand elevated on a terrace. Each chalet has a toilet / shower, outdoor shower and solar-powered electricity.
All rooms are individually designed to fit into the surroundings and to get the best view of the landscape.
At Delta Camp, all guests receive their own safari guide and all live locally in the resort. The guides know the area well and during the day you spend time in mokoros (canoes) and glide calmly and quietly through the waterways. You hike to small islands and enjoy the bird and wildlife you see.
At Delta Camp, bars are welcome and some rooms have three or four beds that are suitable for families. There are no restrictions here due to age because your safari is your private and you do not have to take other guests into account – Everything happens at your pace.
Delta Camp is committed to the environment. Only degradable, environmentally friendly products are used here for everything. We only use local guides and the safari flight takes all waste from the island. The environment here is very sensitive and is the very reason why we want to be here, therefore we also want to take care of it in the best way.
Early morning safari, breakfast and then we leave the calm at Delta Camp with safari flight to Maun. Further from there with international flights.
For those who want, it is possible to extend the trip to Victoria Falls or Cape Town, price on request.
