A huge number of different flavors that are collected here will surprise many people. Cairo is considered one of the friendliest cities in all of Africa. And this is not surprising, because the locals respect the guests of the country. You can make unusual purchases at the largest eastern market, which is called Khan el-Khalili, now it covers an area of 5 square meters. km. Here you can buy almost anything, but most importantly, that here any tourist will plunge into the real world of oriental exoticism, which has been well preserved to this day. It is definitely worth mentioning such an attraction as the Egyptian pyramids, which are known not only by adults, but also by children. Most of the pyramids are located along the western bank of the Nile River, but they are not all together, but in small groups that are scattered over a fairly large area. During the times of Ancient Egypt, the capital of the state, Memphis, was located here. The most famous pyramids are not very far from Cairo on the Giza plateau, so they are very often called the pyramids of Giza. The most famous pyramids that are located here include the pyramid of Cheops, Mykerin and Khafre, and at the foot of the plateau there is a famous sphinx. The pearl of the country is the city of Luxor, located 500 km from Cairo. It is difficult to even imagine how many historical sights are located in this place. Now about 1/3 of all historical relics of the world are concentrated here, and the city is considered the center of world archeology. Luxor is conditionally divided into two parts: the “City of the Dead” and the “City of the Living”. Ordinary people lived in the “City of the Living”, and in the “City of the Dead” there was a royal residence, as well as a huge necropolis where famous people and rulers were buried. On the territory of the “City of the Living” is the famous Luxor and Karnak Temple. Previously, they were interconnected by an alley of sphinxes and represented a single ensemble. Of particular interest to tourists is the Temple of Karnak, whose architecture is much more complex and interesting than that of Luxor, it can only be compared with the pyramids of Giza. This temple includes a whole complex of various structures, the construction of which lasted for more than one century by different pharaohs. Every evening, at the Karnak temple, fascinating light and music performances are held, which are of great interest to tourists. Another interesting place that is very popular with tourists is Alexandria. It is the second largest city in Egypt. At the moment it is the largest port in Egypt. It was founded in 320 BC. This city is located in a very interesting place: on the border of the Christian and Muslim worlds. Multifaceted Alexandria has retained not only a rich culture, but also excellent resorts. The beaches here stretch for more than 20 km, some of them are located on the territory of the city, and some outside it.

National cuisine of Egypt

Most of the dishes in Egypt are very tasty, and their cost is quite low. It is worth knowing that many of them can be sharp. In cooking, chefs use a large number of all kinds of spices and sauces. There are no pork dishes here, so it is useless to look for a dish with this meat in any form on the menu. Although Egypt is an exotic country, there are very few fruits here and they are almost never used in dishes. This is due to the dry climate. In national dishes, beans, eggplants, legumes and various herbs are used as the basis. Most sauces are made from local herbs, vegetable oil and vinegar. Egyptian fish dishes are known for their variety. The presence of access to the sea makes seafood cuisine one of the most popular. Almost all food with meat and fish is very spicy and at the same time satisfying.

Transport

In the capital of the state, public transport is represented by metro, taxis, buses and trams. Using a bus for tourists is not an easy task. The route is described in Arabic, and the drivers stop for a very short time, during which you need to have time to get off. The tram is a fairly convenient form of urban transport, but due to the fact that there is only one line, it will not be very convenient for tourists. Taxi is considered to be the best way to get around. The fare is low, it is also possible to travel not only in the territory of one city, but also to hire a taxi with intercity transportation. Often, taxi drivers take on a trip several people who go in the same direction. You should agree on the fare in advance, since the price is called regardless of the counters, which, as a rule, don’t work at all. On average, one kilometer of travel will have to pay 1 pound. At night, the fare is usually a little more expensive, but you can bargain with local taxi drivers.
