POSITION
OVERVIEW
The Project Supervisor for Nutrition Link and NEAT AT 2 will have
primary responsibility for all management and administrative
duties under the direction of the Principal Investigators.
Primary responsibilities for project implementation include
directing planning and execution; and providing oversight to
project staff and ensuring progress toward project goals and
objectives. The Project Supervisor is also expected to function
as a liaison for local and regional community networks, schools
and universities, and other agencies, including identifying
potential partners and available resources around the issue of
child nutrition and physical activity; as well as serving as
primary liaison to the California Department of Health Services,
Cancer Prevention and Nutrition Section and the First 5
Commission of San Diego County. The Project Supervisor is
primary responsible for reporting; budget preparation and
reconciliation; providing oversight of progress toward project
objectives; engaging in performance management of staff;
preparing and disseminating materials (website, presentations,
papers) relevant to project activities; identifying funding
opportunities and preparing grant applications.
Primary responsibilities for data and research activities
involve developing and maintaining human subjects’ protocols for
programmatic and research activities, monitoring and assisting
with data management and measurement quality control, including
collecting data at school sites, ensuring quality in data coding
and entry and completing to summary reports.

1. Work with the Principal Investigators to

and timelines based upon goals and
objectives of the project.
2. Ensure adherence to guidelines provided
by the United States Department of
Agriculture (USDA), the California
Department of Health Services, Cancer
Prevention and Nutrition Section, and the
First 5 Commission of San Diego County.
3. Monitor current and emerging research and
programs, including USDA, Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention, Healthy
People 2010, California Core Content
Standards (CDE), California Nutrition
Competency Guidelines (CDE), 5 a Day Power
Play! Program and American College of Sports
Medicine Physical Activity Guidelines.
4. Prepare budgets, perform budget
forecasting and reconcile expenses.
5. Research and respond to funding
opportunities.
6. Act as primary liaison to Project
Officers within the California Department of
Health Services, Cancer Prevention and
Nutrition Section and the First 5 Commission
of San Diego County.
7. Recruit and supervise undergraduate and
graduate student interns performing a
variety of projects including program
evaluation, community assessments, strategic
planning and information dissemination.
8. Screen applications, interview candidates
and either make selection decisions or
recommend individuals for hire.
9. Train and assign work to new and
continuing employees.
10. Provide guidance on performance
standards and University procedures.
11. Independently conduct performance
evaluations, including communication with
subordinates.
12. Make recommendations for employee
incentive awards and salary increases
including merits and reclassifications.
13. Determine what discipline should be
imposed for subordinates, with authority to
apply such, and/or submits/recommends same
to higher level management.
14. Coordinate with other members of the
Divisional Management Team, as the
designated representative for Nutrition Link
and NEAT AT 2, to direct shared staff and
accomplish shared program objectives. |
